Kenneth Greene, routine blood donor at the Blood Connection

Meet Kenneth Greene. He’s a loyal O-negative blood donor originally from Inman, S.C., who donates at The Blood Connection’s Asheville area center in Arden, near where he works.

With encouragement from his Army vet dad, Kenneth starting donating blood around age 18. When his dad was diagnosed with a blood disorder in 2012, he saw the huge need for donations on an extremely personal level. Kenneth’s father needed blood transfusions almost every 15 days. Due to the transfusions, his dad’s life was extended by three more months – precious time in which he got to say goodbye to his family.

Now, Kenneth’s daughters Tiffany and Kennedi give blood, just like their dad. They’ve continued this tradition of giving back because they saw how much their grandfather needed it – and they say they feel grateful to help someone else in their community who needs it now.

Watch their story here.

If you’re curious about donating, see how the process works on The Blood Connection’s website here. To donate at the Arden center (225 Airport Rd., Arden, N.C.), check their hours + info, or mark your calendar for when a Blood Connection bus will be near you in the WNC area: upcoming drives here.
