Brook here, and as a homeowner, I don’t get the chance to explore many rental properties. But a good friend is looking for a new place, and he asked if I would join him as he visited a new apartment complex, Hawthorne at Haywood. I took him up on it – not only for support, but because it’s always fun to look at new places and imagine how you’d use + decorate them — or get inspo for your own abode. Come along with me to Hawthorne at Haywood to see how you can #TryThis.

What we tried (with pricing):

We arrived at Hawthorne on Haywood in the late afternoon on a beautiful autumn day. And while autumn is the best time of year to see or experience anything, the lovely modern apartment homes and amenities are available year round. However, unless you’re a devotee of Dutch extreme athlete Wim Hof, I’d suggest avoiding the gorgeous saltwater swimming pool during the winter. Oh, and about that pool? There’s also a cabana with a flat screen TV and fireplace.

We were invited to see the model apartment, which — I can’t even lie — made me pine for my younger years when I lived solo. It was airy + light and yet also managed to be spacious + cozy. My friend immediately started talking about where his things would fit and how he could arrange them, while I was drooling over the kitchen that looks like a great place for someone like me who likes to cook (or just eat).

Even though I’m a mom who has learned to withstand the siren call of sleep, the living room was so inviting that the only reason I didn’t splay out on the couch for a quick nap is because there were other people around to keep me from acting inappropriately. But believe me when I say I really wanted to grab a book + blanket and settle into that couch for some respite.

Don’t miss:

One of the best things about Hawthorne at Haywood are its limitless mountain views. You can see them everywhere you go. You’ll also want to check out the charming on-site Clubhouse. With a fireplace, two grills and lots of comfy seating, it made me want to grab my friends, a bottle of wine and a tray of food to sear so we could enjoy an al fresco meal.

What we’re still talking about:

One of my biggest dreams in life is to have a home gym, not just a corner of the living room I can do yoga in. My friend and I were wowed by the 24-hour fitness center, which has treadmills, free weights, weight machines, a CrossFit-style battle rope, and even a boxing station with a heavy bag.

I was also floored by its overall pet-friendliness. One of the first things I noticed as I toured the grounds were all the folks out walking their dogs. Inside the office, they have a “bark box” and treat jar of goodies. They’re also currently building an on-site, off-leash dog park so your pup can run out all their energy and make friends to boot. My friend and I marveled over this and discussed how much time + energy it can take to load your pups up and drive to the closest dog park. A dog park you can walk to? Sign. Me. Up.

Another really cool thing about Hawthorne at Haywood? It’s conveniently located near so many things, including the new shopping center at the foot of the driveway across the street that has a Starbucks in it. My friend and I instantly started talking about how great that would be for the inevitable power outage the winter and its snowstorms will bring. If you’ve spent a winter here, you’ll understand how appealing it is to have hot coffee just a hop, skip + jump away.

It’s tucked back away from the street so it feels secluded, but you’re still close to tons of great little West Asheville eateries like 10th Muse Coffee, Leo’s House of Thirst, and Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack.

How you can experience this:

If you’re in the market for a new home (or you just want to go ogle pretty spots and support your home-searching friends), give them a call or schedule an appointment online.
