It’s been a tough few weeks here in Asheville. A few longtime local establishments announced they would be closing recently, including Earth Fare and Iannucci’s. But on the bright side, 20+ new businesses are coming or have already opened to help fill the void left by some of these famous and beloved places.

Asheville Humane Thrift Shop, 1425 Patton Ave.
100% of the proceeds benefit the animals. Bonus: They offer free pickup for furniture items that fit the guidelines of what they’re looking for.
Baked Pie Company, Asheville Regional Airport
The local pie company just opened up its new location in the Asheville Regional Airport. We’re ready for that pie in the sky. 🥧

Asheville’s newest dry bar + full-service day spa welcomes people of all social backgrounds, genders, and races to experience spa services in an affordable way.

Not technically new, but renamed – the space formerly known as District Wine Bar serves up 50+ wines by the glass.🍷
A new Green Man taproom in a historic building downtown. 🍺
Farewell, 11 Southside Ave.
The newest coffee shop on the scene also has wine, beer + food – like sweet and savory porridge, trout toast + kale salad.
Firefly Valley Design and Consulting
Outdoor playscape design and installation along with arts-centered curriculum consulting + pop-up classes.
H&F Burger Asheville, 77 Biltmore Ave.
The first H&F to open outside of Atlanta. Menu includes burgers, fried chicken + more. 🍔
This new bakery in Candler currently sells at various places in Asheville, plus offers a subscription bread service. DYK: They use one of the first historical 6’ x 10’ Turtlerock wood fired ovens to bake their homemade breads + pastries.
Kickbackavl, 20 Battery Park Ave.
A local delivery + marketing service. Deliveries come in a sustainable, reusable bag and 30% of the service fee is donated to a local nonprofit.
LEAF Global Arts Center, 19 Eagle St.
Opens on Valentine’s Day. Visitors can enjoy educational experiences rooted in music, art, community + culture through interactive and immersive installations.
Mother Ocean Market, 640 Merrimon Ave.
Opening in the old A La Mode Macaron spot building in North Asheville, they focus on bringing sustainable fresh seafood from the coast of the Carolinas to the mountains of Asheville. 🐟
My Asheville Massage, 290 Haywood Rd.
Offers a blend of massage + yoga techniques, plus complimentary tea from Asheville Tea Co.
The Riveter, 701 Old Fanning Bridge Rd., Fletcher
Indoor climbing gym, bike park + wellness arena offering a variety of climbing, biking, yoga + fitness classes. A bar for people to relax after their workout is also in the works.
Room To Dance Avl, 175 Biltmore Ave.
A new 1,200 square foot dance floor complete with dazzling lighting effects and geared toward older adults. Opens on Valentine’s at 7 p.m. with a 70s disco + soul theme.
South Slope Cheese Co., 11 Southside Ave.
Cheese, wines + gourmet goodies along with charcuterie to go. 🧀

Carolina Flowers Mercantile, 62 S. Main Street, Marshall
A new storefront that will allow Carolina Flowers to process their flowers, create wedding orders, prepare for farmers markets + host workshops. Opening Mar. 21. 🌷
Down Dog Yoga Studio & Dog Bar, 51 Sweeten Creek Rd.
Will offer hot yoga classes + a bar that serves wine and beer and allows off-leash dogs to play while their owners take a class or have a drink. Construction begins next month.
The former Rabbit’s Motel in Asheville’s Southside will be brought back to life as affordable music practices spaces + a soul food cafe that pays homage to the building’s origins as a haven for black Ashevillians + visitors during and after Segregation.
White Duck Taco, Seventh Avenue in Hendersonville
The Asheville-based taco shop will open a new location in Hendersonville sometime in the first quarter of this year.

Bruisin’ Ales, 66 Broadway St.
This local bottle shop is closing in late Feb. after 13 years of service. 🍺
Iannucci’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, 1981 Hendersonville Rd.
After 40 years, the popular South Asheville pizzeria + Italian restaurant closed last month.
Gan Shan Station, 143 Charlotte St.
This North Asheville spot closed on Jan. 31 after five years of business. Gan Shan West will remain open. 🍜
Earth Fare, All Locations
The Asheville-based grocery store is closing all of its locations across the U.S., after first opening in 1975.
Rise Biscuits, 50 Peaks Center Ln.
The chicken and Southern biscuits restaurant opened last year – and just closed in the past few days.
