Well Asheville, we’re not called Beer City USA for nothing. So, raise your glass (a pretend beer glass is fine, humor me here) and give three cheers to AVL Beer Week 2019 which begins today through Sat., June 1. 🍺

Thanks to several community sponsors, partners and the Asheville Brewers Alliance, this week-long celebration combines our craft beer industry, food, innovation, brewing education + culture together through events, panels, music + outdoor fun. Come on, it really doesn’t get much better than that. 🙌

This year’s theme is Crafted Community, and all week, locals + visitors alike will get to celebrate AVL Beer Week in our Asheville-area breweries large, small, urban, neighborhood, family oriented and dog-friendly spots, you name it.

Now to appreciate all-things craft beer and fermented, here are just a few highlights:

Fri., May 24

Strange Brew Movie | 10 p.m. | Asheville Brewing Co., 675 Merrimon Ave. | $1 | Don’t miss the beer movie “Strange Brew.”

Sat., May 25

Beer Pong Battleship Tournament | 12-4 p.m. | Bhramari Brewhouse, 101 S. Lexington Ave. | Free | Bring your best beer pong skills. Prizes for 1st + 2nd place.

Sun., May 26

Eurisko Coffee Beer Tap Takeover | 12-8 p.m. | Eurisko Beer Co., 225 Short Coxe Ave. | Free | PennyCup Coffee Co. has helped craft coffee variations of Eurisko’s favorite beers.

Mon., May 27

Memorial Day Keg Hunt | 1-5 p.m. | Hi-Wire Brewing, 197 Hilliard Ave. | $120 | In collaboration with Well-Played, this 2nd Annual Memorial Day Keg Hunt will benefit the Blue Ridge Roller Girls.

Tues., May 28

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Trivia | 7-9 p.m. | The Casual Pint, 1863 Hendersonville Rd. #145 | Free | Bring your best Central Perk knowledge. Team size up to six people and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Wed., May 29

Thirsty Monk’s 6th Annual Not So Big BIG Beer Festival | 5:30-9:30 p.m. | Thirst Monk Warehouse, 92 Thompson St. | $15+ | Featuring a selection of specialty beers in an outdoor setting.

Thurs., May 30

Beer City Tourists vs. West Virginia Power | 7 p.m. | McCormick Field | $8.50+ | Come out for Thirsty Thursday drink deals as the Asheville Tourists wear special Beer City jerseys for one night only.

Fri., May 31

American Craft Sake Fest | 6-8 p.m. | Ben’s Tune Up, 195 Hilliard Ave. | Free | Order some sake and meet with Patrick Shearer of Ben’s American Sake as well as other brewers.

Sat., June 1

Catawba Brewing White Zombie 5K | 9 a.m.-12 p.m. | Catawba Brewing South Slope, 32 Banks Ave. | $40 | Run or walk this 5K along the South Slope, but be prepared to dodge some zombies. A beer is included in registration.

And as part of the AVL Beer Week finale, make sure you hit up the Beer City Festival’s 10th Anniversary: Summer Session from 12-5 p.m. at the Roger McGuire Green (121 College St.). This festival is an afternoon packed with cold beer, live music + fun. Tickets ($45+) are on sale here.
