After more than 100 seasons as McCormick Field, the ballpark is now dubbed HomeTrust Park, marking a partnership between Asheville’s minor league team and its largest financial institution.

After a 100+ season run at McCormick Field, the Asheville Tourists’ ballpark is getting a new name: HomeTrust Park.

The rebrand arrives just in time for opening day on Tuesday, April 21, when fans will get their first full look at a $40 million transformation designed to modernize one of the country’s oldest minor league ballparks.

Renovations stretch from the front gates to the outfield, with an expanded entrance, new ticket office, high-tech video board, new clubhouses and hitting cages, and a brand-new playing surface. The project also adds the Asheville Baseball History Walk, taking you through the stadium’s past.

Speaking of history, although the ballpark is changing names for the first time, it’s certainly not the team’s first reinvention. Prior to officially becoming the Tourists in 1915, the team was known as the Moonshiners and the Mountaineers — and during a four-season stint in the ‘70s, they were dubbed the Asheville Orioles.
