A rotating gif featuring: An image of a woman in a red AARP tshirt dumping a box of files into a large garbage bin to be shredded, and an image of an older man in a red polo sitting on a couch, holding a phone and reading the numbers of his credit hand to someone on a call.

Even if you can’t attend the informational session, the community shred is open to all.

New AARP research shows fraud is a growing concern: Nearly four in 10 US adults (roughly 103 million people) have experienced fraud, and an estimated 159 million worry they’ll be next.

That’s why AARP Asheville and the Land of Sky Regional Council are hosting Scam Jam on Wednesday, April 29.

This free event will include an interactive educational session with guest speakers and trivia, followed by a community shred to safely dispose of sensitive documents + reduce the risk of identity theft.
