Five summer camps in Asheville, NC

The countdown is on. There are T-minus 81 days until Asheville kiddos say “sayonara” to school until autumn. Don’t panic, parents. We’ve got you covered with five local summer camps + programs that run from June through August for children of all ages to enjoy.

🎨 Art

Asheville Art Museum, 2 S. Pack Sq.

Students in grades K-12 can learn drawing, painting, mixed-media + beyond in morning only, afternoon only, or all-day sessions. The museum also offers limited amounts of financial aid. Psst: Editor Brook’s daughter adores these camps.

Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre, 20 Commerce St.

This nonprofit dance company offers summer art + dance programsincluding dance, theater, art, stage combat, and history — for kids ages five to 16 years. Bonus: some scholarships are available.

Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 W. State St., Black Mountain

From preschoolers to teens, there’s something for nearly all kids here, including

dancing, singing, and art lessons inspired by BMC alumni. Plus, aspiring wizards and witches can spend a week in the wizarding world.

🎽 Athletics

Climbmax Climbing, 43 Wall St. and 173 Amboy Rd.

These climbing-centric camps run for five day stretches and are available for kids ages six to 16. Many include additional activities like biking, pottery + painting, as well at least one day of climbing at a local mountain. Oh, and there are day and overnight options.

📱 Tech

Swift App School, 45 S. French Broad Ave.

Teens ages 13-18 who want to learn to make games + code apps for the iPhone + iPad can do so from July 11-15 at this summer camp located at Hatch Innovation Hub. In addition to all that knowledge, attendees get free lunches and access to Nintendo Games and Ping Pong.
