It’s starting to feel like fall, and with a chill in the air, we’re sharing ten spots to warm up with a bowl of soup. From creamy classics to brothy bowls, there’s something cozy for every palette.

Mizu, 22 New Leicester Hwy.
The restaurant inside YZ Asian Market has some of our favorite ramen in the city — specifically the curry ramen. The supremely savory, warm spiced broth makes it ultra comforting.

RendezVous, 184 New Haw Creek Rd.
The East Asheville bistro specialized in French comfort food, and the French onion soup is a shining star.

HomeGrown, 371 Merrimon Ave.
A cup of the tomato basil or chicken sausage gumbo with a side salad makes for a perfect lunch.

Pho Real, 640 Merrimon Ave.
This fairly new North Asheville spot really is the real deal. The traditional beef pho has a rich broth and is garnished with plenty of fresh cilantro and basil. Pro tip: Hit up Pop Bubble Tea next door for some boba afterward.

Guajiro, 2A Huntsman Pl.
The food truck outside Hi-Wire Biltmore Village dishes out hearty, flavorful Cuban comfort food, so it’s no surprise that Nana’s black bean soup and Abuela’s chicken soup will stick to your ribs.

Heiwa Shokudo, 87 N. Lexington Ave.
There are plenty of noodle soups and ramen bowls on this menu to warm you up, but the sleeper hit is the vegan kimchi hotpot, filled with vegetables and dumplings.

New Stock Pantry, Various locations
There’s a new menu of seasonal soups to enjoy each week. Pick up from the Weaverville kitchen or stop by and see the crew at three local farmers markets.

Rosetta’s Kitchen, 68 N. Lexington Ave.
Grab a bowl of hearty, award-winning vegan chili and dress it up with vegan queso and a basket of chips. If that’s not your jam, there’s always a veggie-packed soup on the menu.

Chestnut, 48 Biltmore Ave.
Treat yourself to the silky smooth lobster bisque or keep things fresh with an ever-changing soup of the day.

18 Chestnuts, Various locations
In the local section of the grocery, you’ll find a stellar lineup of plant-based soups, from butternut squash pear to mountain mushroom.

Bonus: If you’d rather cook at home, check out recipes for Asheville Mountain Kitchen’s chestnut soup and chef Luis Martinez’s pozole.
