Weekday wonders

Chorizo
Find Latin-inspired dishes like arepas, breakfast tacos, and croque madame sandwiches at this recently resurrected Grove Arcade cafe (owned by the same folks as Salsa’s).

Early Girl
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served all day. The Yam Scram with scrambled eggs, pork sausage, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, chopped bacon, and green onions is even more fun to eat than it is to say.

5 Points Restaurant
Dig into classic breakfast + brunch fare like eggs Benedict, Fresh toast, and biscuits — we recommend getting a sample of brunch favorites with the 5 Points Special.

Corner Kitchen
Pro tip: If you’re in the mood for something sweet, don’t miss Boozy French Toast with Grand Marnier batter and bourbon sorghum.

The Med
What we’re ordering: The hefty breakfast burrito or the Pisgah Bowl with pulled pork, onions, and an egg over easy. Probably both.

Sand Hill Kitchen
This unassuming spot, located inside a BP gas station, boasts award-winning fare. We especially love the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and sausage gravy.

City Bakery
This North Asheville bakery has been making mornings sweeter since 1999 with baked goods like muffins, croissants, and cinnamon rolls. If you’re in a savory mood, the breakfast sandwiches will also start your day on a delicious note.

Sunny Point Cafe
We love this West Asheville staple’s elegant + elevated Southern fare, especially the decadent Southern Crab Cake Benedict.

Regina’s
You can dine on breakfast + lunch favorites with an elevated twist in this vibrant, comfortable West Asheville spot. Guy Fieri recently paid a visit on his tour of Asheville spots for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

Cornerstone
Dine on Southern breakfast classics like biscuits and gravy or chicken and waffles at this long-running family-owned restaurant.

Smokin’ Onion
From chick’n and waffles to biscuits and gravy — you won’t believe these comfort foods are 100% vegan. And if you crave the dishes on a day the restaurant is closed, try to catch the food truck.

Weekend musts

Finest Deli
The West Asheville spot has a breakfast menu of hearty bodega sandwiches, but on Sundays, they take things up a notch, offering a special diner breakfast plate, eggs in purgatory, and avocado toast.

Xico
The upscale Mexican restaurant is fairly new to the South Slope and is making its foray into weekend brunch dishing out plates like huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and tres leches French toast.

ButterPunk
Drool over scones, strawberry shortcake, and jalapeno biscuits in the display case or order off the menu. We recommend the OG breakfast sammie with sausage or the biscuits with mushroom gravy and a fried egg. Don’t forget the coffee menu — The Angeleno or the miso caramel latte will fuel the rest of your day.

Luminosa
Here’s our perfect order: Get your greens in with a freshly foraged “weeds salad,” go hearty with foccacia and gravy, and for the finale, a sourdough cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting for the table.

Posana
At the Biltmore Park location, you can find the gluten-free brunch of your dreams with creative cocktails to match.

Juanchos Fonda
Speaking of gluten-free brunches, on Sundays, the Colombian restaurant serves up specials like omelettes and plates with an arepa, guacamole, eggs, and your choice of protein.

Tall John’s
Choosing between steak and eggs and a goat cheese omelet for your main is tough — but deviled eggs to start are a no-brainer.

Fork Lore
Build your own omelet, dine on different Bennies, or check out burgers and sandwiches on the special brunch menu. Pro tip: You can grab classic breakfast foods every day of the week.

Grey Eagle Taqueria
Eat your heart out, music lovers. All the brunch dishes are cleverly named after musicians — check out the Beastie Boys Bowl, “Egg Raid on Mojo,” with scrambled eggs, kale, beans, pickled onions, mojo de ajo, and cotija cheese.

The Exchange
This mountain-to-table restaurant embraces local flavors in its brunch dishes. We’re craving Ashe Co. Cheddar, found in the Loaded Hashbrowns or Exchange Burger.

W.A.L.K.
Avocado toast, breakfast tacos, and French toast are on the menu at this West Asheville spot — but we’ve really got our eye on the Turkey Avocado Benedict.

Chestnut
Get your table (or yourself) a large mimosa carafe before you choose from delicious dishes like shrimp and grits, Golden Malted Waffle, or Benedict Du Jour.

Bargello
This restaurant in the Kimpton Hotel Arras merges local and Mediterranean flavors to create its brunch menu — we’re craving the Salmon Benedict or the Brioche Fresh Toast.

The Refinery
For the folks who like a little something sweet, start your brunch at the Foundry Hotel’s new spot with the blueberry ricotta fritters, topped with lemon cardamom curd and powdered sugar.

For the fam

Whether they’re smothered with gravy, loaded with butter and homemade jams, or used as a sandwich — the biscuits are the star of this show. We especially love the Filthy Animal sandwich with fried chicken, pimento cheese, bacon, and scrambled eggs topped with gravy.

The Rhu
Here, you’ll find gorgeous pastries + cookies, salads, and yummy breakfast sandwiches. We can’t get enough of the smoked trout bagel featuring local smoked trout from Sunburst Trout Farms, cream cheese, greens, red onion, and capers.

Abeja’s House Cafe
Two words are enough for us: breakfast quesadillas. But there are also pillowy pancakes, omelets, huevos rancheros, and breakfast sandwiches for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters.

The Local Joint
What we’re ordering: the Fairview with poached eggs, avocado, tomato, and sauteed spinach on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce on top.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar
We’re loving the Mac-N-Cheese Waffles with Asheville Hot Fried Chicken, and don’t forget to order the “Biscuits for a Cause” to benefit Tupelo employees in need.

The Blackbird
You’ll find fare from the farm, eggs galore, special cocktails, and dishes with a Southern touch — plus, a simple menu for “the Hatchlings.”

Check out the all-day breakfast tacos — we especially love Mama’s Favorite, with sausage, eggs, spinach, sweet potato, and goat cheese on a plantain tortilla.
