In this town, brunchin’ ain’t easy, but it’s necessary. Whether you’re on the hunt for fluffy eggs, chicken and waffles, or mind-blowing bloody marys, the options can get as overwhelming as the lines at times.

Weekday wonders

Bomba | Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Find Latin-inspired dishes like arepas, breakfast tacos, and croque madame sandwiches at this all-day breakfast cafe (owned by the same folks as Salsa’s). Personally, we can never resist the Bomba Roll (a tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, potato gratin, avocado, and sweet plantains).

Early Girl | Monday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served all day. The Yam Scram with scrambled eggs, pork sausage, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, chopped bacon, and green onions is even more fun to eat than it is to say.

5 Points Restaurant | Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday 6 a.m.-3 p.m.; Sunday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Dig in to classic breakfast + brunch fare like eggs Benedict, Fresh toast, and biscuits — we recommend getting a sample of brunch favorites with the 5 Points Special.

Pro tip: If you’re in the mood for something sweet, don’t miss Boozy French Toast with Grand Marnier batter and bourbon sorghum.

The Med | Tuesday-Saturday., 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
What we’re ordering: The hefty breakfast burrito or the Pisgah Bowl with pulled pork, onions, and an egg over easy. Probably both.

Sand Hill Kitchen | Tuesday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
This unassuming spot, located inside a BP gas station, boasts award-winning fare. We especially love the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and sausage gravy.

City Bakery | Monday-Saturday 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
This North Asheville bakery has been making mornings sweeter since 1999 with baked goods like muffins, croissants, and cinnamon rolls. If you’re in a savory mood, the breakfast sandwiches will also start your day on a delicious note.

Sunny Point Cafe | Monday-Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. | We love this West Asheville staple’s elegant + elevated Southern fare, especially the decadent Southern Crab Cake Benedict.

Regina’s | Wednesday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
You can dine on breakfast + lunch favorites with an elevated twist in this vibrant, comfortable West Asheville spot. Plus, keep an eye out for dinner service Thursday through Sunday.

Cornerstone | Sunday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m. + Friday-Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
Dine on Southern breakfast classics like biscuits and gravy or chicken and waffles at this long-running family-owned restaurant.

Gemelli | Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Italian spot has a lineup of hearty brunch fare on the weekends, including french toast bread pudding and shrimp and grits.

Smokin’ Onion | Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday + Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
From chick’n and waffles to biscuits and gravy — you won’t believe these comfort foods are 100% vegan. And if you crave the dishes on a day the restaurant is closed, try to catch the food truck.

Tall John’s | Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Choosing between steak and eggs and a goat cheese omelet for your main is tough — but deviled eggs to start are a no-brainer.

Fork Lore | Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Build your own omelet, dine on different Bennies, or check out burgers and sandwiches on the special brunch menu. Pro tip: You can grab classic breakfast foods every day of the week.

Grey Eagle Taqueria | Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Eat your heart out, music lovers. All the brunch dishes are cleverly named after musicians — check out the Beastie Boys Bowl, “Egg Raid on Mojo,” with scrambled eggs, kale, beans, pickled onions, mojo de ajo, and cotija cheese.

The Exchange | Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
This mountain-to-table restaurant embraces local flavors in its brunch dishes. We’re craving Ashe Co. Cheddar, found in the Loaded Hashbrowns or Exchange Burger.

W.A.L.K. | Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Avocado toast, breakfast tacos, and French toast are on the menu at this West Asheville spot — but we’ve really got our eye on the Turkey Avocado Benedict.

Chestnut | Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Get your table (or yourself) a large mimosa carafe before you choose from delicious dishes like shrimp and grits, Golden Malted Waffle, or Benedict Du Jour.

For the fam

Biscuit Head | Monday-Sunday, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
Whether they’re smothered with gravy, loaded with butter and homemade jams, or used as a sandwich — the biscuits are the star of this show. We especially love the Filthy Animal sandwich with fried chicken, pimento cheese, bacon, and scrambled eggs topped with gravy.

The Rhu | Monday-Sunday, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Here, you’ll find gorgeous pastries + cookies, salads, and yummy breakfast sandwiches. We can’t get enough of the smoked trout bagel featuring local smoked trout from Sunburst Trout Farms, cream cheese, greens, red onion, and capers.

Abeja’s House Cafe | Tuesday-Sunday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Two words are enough for us: breakfast quesadillas. But there are also pillowy pancakes, omelets, huevos rancheros, and breakfast sandwiches for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters.

The Local Joint | Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
What we’re ordering: the Fairview with poached eggs, avocado, tomato, and sauteed spinach on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce on top.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar | Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
We’re loving the Mac-N-Cheese Waffles with Asheville Hot Fried Chicken, and don’t forget to order the “Biscuits for a Cause” to benefit Tupelo employees in need.

The Blackbird | Monday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
You’ll find fare from the farm, eggs galore, special cocktails, and dishes with a Southern touch — plus, a simple menu for “the Hatchlings.”

For a special occasion

Isa’s Bistro | Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
This French-inspired fine dining restaurant offers seasonally driven eats, but you can’t go wrong with the Chef’s Breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and seasoned hash browns.

Bargello | Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This restaurant in the Kimpton Hotel Arras merges local and Mediterranean flavors to create its brunch menu — we’re craving the Salmon Benedict or the Brioche Fresh Toast.

La Bodega | Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Upstairs open at 11 a.m. Tuesday-Friday + 10 a.m. Saturday-Sunday
Start your morning downstairs with breakfast pastries, then head upstairs at 11 a.m. for fare like the Croissant Bikini with jamon serrano, sherry mushrooms, eggs, caramelized onion, and manchego.

Liberty House Coffee & Cafe | Monday-Sunday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
With lush grounds and covered decks, this is the spot to enjoy a breezy, farm-to-table breakfast. Check the cafe’s Instagram for the weekend menu + specials. All the dogs you’ll encounter along the way only elevate the experience.

Haywood Common | Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Choose from breakfast-inspired salads, sandwiches, or classic dishes like chicken and waffles + a rotating frittata selection.

Taco Billy | Tuesday-Saturday., 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Sunday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Check out the all-day breakfast tacos — we especially love Mama’s Favorite, with sausage, eggs, spinach, sweet potato, and goat cheese on a plantain tortilla.

All Day Darling | Monday-Sunday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Order breakfast and brunch favorites all day, darling. What we’re ordering: the Shakshuka with two poached eggs, kale, feta, and flatbread in a luscious spicy tomato sauce.
