I’ve been seeing a lot of ads on social media recently for meal delivery services, and while they look nifty, I knew they’d be a lot cooler if they were local. It turns out there are multiple meal delivery services in + around Asheville. Whether you want dairy products, meats galore, or vegan meals, it’s an ideal time to explore the delectable local wares you can get delivered to your home (or picked up curbside). Oh, and don’t forget about this list of local breweries who deliver.

Farm to Home Milk

In business since 1979, Farm to Home Milk delivers grass fed, GMO-free dairy offerings (including milk in cool old-school glass containers, butter, yogurt, kefir + more). They also offer free range eggs, and you can even add on other locally made eats to your order, including Roots Hummus, PennyCup coffee, and Imladris Farms jams. There’s no delivery charge and orders must be a minimum of $25.

Rising Moon Wellness

Owned + operated by two graduates of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Rising Moon Wellness offers services including plant-based menu planning, grocery shopping + food prep (in your home or theirs). If you want to order their prepared meals, you can enjoy zero contact delivery. They also offer private + group cooking classes and nutrition coaching.

New Stock

Online pickup service New Stock is the brainchild of Ashley Cappsformer pastry chef for Buxton Hall BBQ and 2019 semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Pastry Chef award — and features weekly meal boxes (including an entree, drink mixer + dessert) as well as a la carte options like bacon and salad dressing. Meal pickups take place in the parking lot of All Souls Pizza on Thurs. + Fri. 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Mother Earth Foods

Mother Earth Foods is a family-owned, year-round home delivery service of organic + non-GMO foods from local farms. Boxes are customizable, and options include sustainable vegetables, meats, dairy, eggs, bread, pantry + wellness items, and even pet food. You can also order take and bake prepared meals. Protip: Orders of $75 or more get free delivery.

OWL Bakery

Craving some carbs? You can get OWL Bakery’s naturally leavened breadslike sesame spelt + olive hearth loaf — and European-inspired pastries like lemon curd tartlets + cardamom buns — delivered to your door through their online store. Order online from 12 p.m. Mon. to 8 p.m. Weds. for Fri. delivery between 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. If you’d rather pick your items up, order them online from 12 p.m. Thurs. to 8 p.m. Sun. and pick up Tues. between 3-6 p.m.

Asheville Pro Kitchen

Specializing in “fresh + fit” meal delivery, Asheville Pro Kitchen offers regular and portion plus (50% more food per meal) sized eats for a range of dietary preferences, including vegetarian + paleo. Weekly menus are posted online on Tues. for the following week, and orders are available in subscriptions of four, eight, or 16 meals per week. They also offer a la carte protein + vegetable options.

Eden-Out

Eden-Out crafts plant-based, nutrient-dense mealsincluding entrees, salads + desserts — made with non-GMO and organic ingredients from local farms. You can also get gluten-free eats. Menus are posted online every Weds. for the following week, and orders must be placed by 6 p.m. on Sat. for Tues. delivery or pickup. You can also opt to pick up your order at their Woodfin store front.

Chop Shop Butchery

Looking for something meatier? Get all-natural — meaning no antibiotics, growth hormones, or artificial ingredientsand sustainably-raised meats delivered to your home or picked up curbside from Chop Shop Butchery. You can get specific cuts of meat by request, and they also offer weekly “butcher bargain” specials. Pickup is Mon.-Sat. from 1-5 p.m., or get it delivered within a 15-mile radius of their shop at 100 Charlotte St. with a 15% delivery fee from 3:30-5 p.m.

Hickory Nut Gap Farm

Sure, you can find Hickory Nut Gap Farm’s grass fed beef and pasture raised pork + chicken in area grocery stores, but you can also avoid crowds and pick it up curbside at their inviting Fairview farm located at 57 Sugar Hollow Rd. Place your order before 7 a.m. for same-day pickup, and orders placed after 7 a.m. will be ready for pickup the following business day. Their hours of operation are Thurs.-Sun., 1-4 p.m.

Mountain Food Products

Located at the Western North Carolina Farmers Market (570 Brevard Rd. Unit B), Mountain Food Products has been in business since 1984 and delivers locally sourced (defined as within 100 miles of Asheville) organic + conventional produce, fresh squeezed juices + specialty items to folks in Asheville and WNC. They also offer a killer multi-farm CSA. For morning deliveries, order by 11 p.m. the night before your delivery day. For afternoon deliveries (downtown + West Asheville only) place orders by 9 a.m. the day of delivery.

Everyday Gourmet

A locally owned catering business, Everyday Gourmet is now offering weekly meal subscriptions for pick up or delivery. With a weekly meal bundle, you get a heat + eat meal. You can also view cooking tutorials on their YouTube channel. Indulge your snacky tendencies with treats like dips + soups. And each bundle includes a “mini CSA” of seasonal fruits + veggies or other goodies from local vendors.
