As summer gets underway, folks all over the city are turning to local pools or favorite swimming holes to beat the heat. But if swimming is uncharted waters for you or your little ones, this is the perfect time to take the plunge and learn. We’ve gathered a few spots for swimming lessons in Asheville, so dive on in — the water’s fine.

Swim Gently
Swim coach and instructor KJ Hawk offers a variety of public and private classes, including an inclusive eight-week series called Bodies, Boundaries & Bathing Suits which starts Sunday, July 7.

British Swim School of Asheville
Regardless of age or experience, swimmers will learn to be safe in the water and master swim strokes with fun + gentle methods.

YMCA of Western North Carolina
Explore a full schedule of lessons for kids ages 6 months to 12 years as well as adults, available in private, group, and parent/child formats.

East Asheville Recreation Club
Introduce your little one to the water or let your advanced swimmer strengthen their skills during week-long, lifeguard-led classes.

JCC Annual Members can choose from group or private lessons for the kids, plus diving lessons for 5 to 7-year-olds.
