Unique Valentine’s Day experiences around Asheville

Whether you prefer snuggling an adorable rescue animal or smashing a car in the name of cupid, everyone can find their perfect match when it comes to Valentine’s Day events in Asheville.

Cupid is stupid valentine's day

Talk about cathartic.

If the standard chocolate and roses are losing their sparkle, luckily, there are plenty of unique ways to celebrate the day of love in the Land of the Sky.

For the real romantics

Learn to wax poetic at the upcoming Love Letter Writing Workshop this Sunday, Feb. 1 at Story Parlor. You’ll leave with all the tools you need to write from the heart + a wax-sealed envelope and letter.

For the animal lovers

Spend the day snuggling the adorable donkeys, horses, goats, dogs, and sheep of Final Run Rescue, the nonprofit animal rescue at Montgomery Sky Farm. Your snuggle sesh includes a warm beverage and a chocolate treat. Bonus: You can also send loved ones the cutest candygrams featuring Valentine’s of the rescue animals — we’re partial to Crouton and Cornbread the capybaras.

For the outdoorsy folks

You’ve got your love to keep you warm during an evening of guided stargazing under the Snow Moon at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. You can pick up a drink, sweets, and charcuterie from the farm store to add to the experience.

Feel your heart soar on a birding adventure at the NC Arboretum’s Bird Day. You can even pick out some avian art from the special bird-themed market as a memento of your day together.

For the foodies

Put your pinkies up for Valentine’s Day high tea. The Giddy Chick and Let’s Dish AVL are offering two seatings at Ivory Road, complete with loose leaf from Full Moon Tea Co. and sweet and savory delights served on vintage china.

If you’re looking for something ever so slightly more casual, the old reliable Waffle House on Tunnel Road is hosting a special Valentine’s Day dinner. Reservations are booked up, but you can test your luck with a walk-in.

For the angsty ones

Harness your heartbreak at Hi-Wire’s annual Cupid is Stupid Car Smash. Bring a few bucks to take a few swings with the provided equipment and protective eyewear.

If these events don’t make your heart sing, you can still find your perfect match on our events calendar.
