Formerly known as PlayFit AVL, this inclusive group fitness studio rejects diet culture and seeks to help folks heal their relationship with their body through feel-good movement like personal training, fitness counseling, and weight lifting. This unassuming Woodfin gym boasts big offerings, including customized 35 minute in-person gym and at-home workouts that blend cardio, strength training + kickboxing. It also offers personalized nutrition counseling and an app to keep track of progress, goals, and more. Maybe most impressive of all? It’s also Asheville’s first donation-only gym. You won’t find any coach-led classes here. NC Open Gym offers online fitness programs ranging from functional fitness, bodybuilding, strength training, injury rehabilitation, Obstacle Course Race (OCR) training, and more — all at whatever time works best for you. Members can access the space with their key fob and use the facility whenever they like.
