All Bodies Movement and Wellness, 211 Merrimon Ave.

Formerly known as PlayFit AVL, this inclusive group fitness studio rejects diet culture and seeks to help folks heal their relationship with their body through feel-good movement like personal training, fitness counseling, and weight lifting. Clients especially love how instructors offer encouragement without pressure to push you past your limits.

321 Fitness Programs, 937 Riverside Dr.

This unassuming Woodfin gym boasts big offerings, including customized 35 minute in-person gym and at-home workouts that blend cardio, strength training + kickboxing. It also offers personalized nutrition counseling and an app to keep track of progress, goals, and more. Maybe most impressive of all? It’s also Asheville’s first donation-only gym. PS: If owner Hunter Koike looks familiar, you may remember him from 9Round North Asheville.

Gritfit Studio, 611 Tunnel Rd. Ste. C

Wondering what you’ll find at Gritfit? A better question might be what won’t you find: Gritfit offers spin classes, HIIT training, TRX strap workouts, bosu balance, and yoga. Former Well.fit students will recognize owner Shannon Ginn and appreciate her humor, encouragement and always-stellar selection of workout tunes.

NC Open Gym, 565 Long Shoals Rd., Arden

You won’t find any coach-led classes here. NC Open Gym offers online fitness programs ranging from functional fitness, bodybuilding, strength training, injury rehabilitation, Obstacle Course Race (OCR) training, and more — all at whatever time works best for you.
