Beloved late-night eatery (+ lunch/brunch spot) Mojo Kitchen & Lounge will close this Saturday night at the end of the business day. The restaurant in front of the One Stop at Asheville Music Hall has been serving up creative, affordable stapleslike swoon-worthy sweet plantain egg rolls, nachos + Cajun crawfish mac ‘n’ cheese 🦐 – for the last five and a half years.

The team behind Mojo – founders A.J. Gregson + Autumn Pittman – will be concentrating on Black Bear BBQ (800 Fairview Rd. in the River Ridge Shopping Center), the restaurant they opened last year (formerly Webo’s BBQ) and expanding their catering operations, and they’re planning to be serving Mojo’s signature dishes at area festivals + special events out of their food truck, Lil’ Mojo. 🌮 Mojo starting on the festival circuit and the owners are excited to get back to it, according to a statement they released on Facebook. Protip: They plan to be serving at the fall LEAF Festival, in case you need another reason to get your tickets ASAP.

Asheville Music Hall plans to keep the space open as a restaurant, with an in-house kitchen staff, and they’ve offered positions to current employees of Mojo. They’re even planning to restart Bluegrass Brunch, a weekly brunch event with live bluegrass, sometime after Labor Day. 🎶 The Music Hall was recently purchased by Asheville Sandwich Company founder Brian Good and Paul Casey, who also owns French Broad River Brewing.

Mojo Kitchen & Lounge is open from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 p.m.-2 a.m. today and Friday, and from 11:30-2 a.m. Saturday (their final day). We’re remembering our favorite times at Mojo on Instagram here.
