Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 11. Here’s how you can show some appreciation for the leading lady in your life, from gift ideas to special events.

Celebrate at a special event

Tickets are still available for the 9 p.m. seating of the Mom’s The Word comedy show on Friday, May 9 at the Montford Rooftop Bar. Cayla Clark and Ryan Gordon of Blind Date Live will put on the show, complete with small bites and cocktails.

This Saturday, May 10, Ginger’s Revenge is bringing together six local vendors for a Mother’s Day Market, including Blazing Star Flowers and Marble & Steel Chocolates, to help you find something special for your special lady.

Garden Party is spreading the motherly love this Saturday, May 10, hosting a market with a variety of ceramics + textile vendors. Crocodile Wine will supply the natural wine, and James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Camille Cogswell will supply the treats.

Restaurants like Golden Hour, Wildwood Still, and Bargello are hosting special brunches, but you can always check out our brunch guide for more options all over Asheville.

The mother of all gifts

Already planning on breakfast in bed? Make it sweeter with pastries from Budgie’s Bakeshop, OWL, or Old Europe.

Give her a piece of jewelry that sparkles and shines as much as she does. Mora Jewelry and Embellish Asheville have stunning collections from local makers.

For the fashion-forward mother figure, Clad and There There are favorites for stylish, ethically made threads and accessories.

For a gift as whimsical as she is, delighted gift shop is chock full of charming cards, puzzles, totes, and trinkets. Carolina Flowers, of course, has stunning stems, but the new Haywood Road shop also carries a great selection of candles, tea towels, bath bombs, sweets, vases, and more.

If mom would rather be outside, give the gift of gear with something handy from Second Gear. If gardening is more her thing, The Living Seed Company supplies an array of organic, heirloom seeds.
