#MustDo Monday: March 11-17, 2019 – Cat videos + Irish breakfasts

Happy Monday, Asheville. Ali here. The week’s weather is looking a little dreary, but luckily there are plenty of things to distract you from that, like the kickoff of Asheville Amadeus, a festival dedicated to cat videos, and pie at plēb urban winery in celebration of Pi Day on 3.14 (get it?). And of course, St. Patrick’s Day is Sunday. That Appalachian Irish breakfast at Catawba Brewing is lookin’ pretty sweet.

Here are the events I’m most excited about to get me through the cloudy week (and to the weekend)

Winter Chill Series | Mon., Mar. 11 | 8-10 p.m. | The Mothlight | $15 | Join The Asheville Area Arts Council + 103.3 Asheville FM as they celebrate local music with bands Kitty Tsunami + Pink Mercury. Music industry professionals can get a ticket for $1.03. 🎵

Perspectives with Jay Miller | Wed., Mar. 13 | 12-1 p.m. | Free | Black Mountain College Museum, 120 College St. | Go deeper into the new “Politics at Black Mountain College” exhibit with Warren Wilson philosophy professor Jay Miller. 🎤

ASAP CSA Fair | Thurs., Mar. 14 | 3-6 p.m. | New Belgium | Free | Meet local farmers + learn more about how to sign up for a CSA (community supported agriculture). 🥕

Pi Day Pie Day | Thurs., Mar. 14 | 4-10 p.m. | plēb urban winery, 289 Lyman St. | $14 | Celebrate 3.14 with a pie flight from the Baked Pie Company paired with plēb wines. Baked will offer slices for $3.14 (regular price $5.49) and $3.14 off of pie flights + whole pies.

Asheville Amadeus Festival Kick Off | Fri., Mar. 15 | 5 p.m. | Burial Beer | Free | Try the new symphony-inspired Righteous + Barbaric Souls Imperial stout brewed specifically to kick off Asheville Amadeus Festival. 🍻

Cat Video Fest | Sat., Mar. 16 | 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Grail Moviehouse, 45 S. French Broad Ave. | $10 | A compilation reel of the best + weirdest cat videos on the Internet. Continues through Sunday. 🐱

Appalachian Irish Breakfast | Sun., Mar. 17 | 12 p.m.-3 p.m. | Catawba Brewing Company, 32 Banks Ave. | $17 | An Irish brunch buffet from the Blind Pig of Asheville. Admission includes one food plate + a beer. ☘️
